El Salvador agrees to take us to deportees of any nationality

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has offered illegal immigrants, of any nationality, facing deportation in the United States to be reserved in the penitentiary system of his country in exchange for a rate.

This proposal occurs after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Bukele at his Campo de Lakeside house on the outskirts of San Salvador on Monday.

“We have offered the United States of America to outsource part of its penitentiary system,” Bukele wrote Monday night. “We are willing to assume only convicted criminals (including American citizens sentenced) to our mega prison (CECOT) in exchange for a rate. The rate would be relatively low for the United States but significant for us, which makes our entire penitentiary system be sustainable ”

Rubio said that the Salvadoran President “has agreed to the extraordinary and extraordinary migratory agreement more unprecedented anywhere in the world.”

“We can send them, and he will put them in their prisons,” Rubio told journalists, referring to illegal immigrants after bars in the US prisons. “And he also offered to do the same for dangerous criminals currently in custody and fulfill their sentences in the United States, although they are US citizens or legal residents. ”

While Bukele extended the offer to include violent American criminals, it is very unlikely that part of the offer really happens, since it is illegal to deport US citizens. An American official said the Trump administration has no plans to deport US citizens, but said Bukele’s offer was significant.

The proposal with El Salvador, known as a “Third Safe Country” agreement, could be an option for members of Venezuelan gangs convicted in the United States if Venezuela refuses to accept them, and Rubio said that Bukele offered the detainees of any nationality.

Bukele also said that  he would illegally recover all members of MS-13 Salvadoran gangs in the United States, and promised to accept and imprison illegal criminal foreigners from any country, especially those affiliated with the train gang of Aragua in Venezuela

Manuel Flores, the secretary general of the opposition party of Leftista Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front, argued that the “Third Safe Country” plan would paint the region as the “rear patio of the United States government to throw garbage.”

Rubio was visiting El Salvador to promote more help to support the mass deportation plan of President Donald Trump. He arrived in San Salvador shortly after seeing a deportation flight financed by the United States that had 43 illegal immigrants who leave Panama to Colombia.

The deportation flight had 32 men and 11 women arrested by the Panamanian authorities after illegally crossing Darien’s gap from Colombia. The State Department said deportations send a deterrent message.

“Mass migration is one of the great tragedies in the modern era,” said Rubio later. “It impacts countries worldwide. We recognize that many of the people seeking massive migration are often victims and victims along the way, and it is not good for anyone.”
