The Patriots added a coach with defensive backs to Mike Vrabel staff on Wednesday, after the outputs of corner coach Mike Pellegrino and security coach Brian Belichick on Tuesday.
Vrabel hired Scott Booker, according to a source. Booker was more recently the nickel coach/senior defensive assistant of the Bills. Previously, it served under Vrababel in the Titans from 2018 to 2023, first as a defensive assistant before being promoted to security coach from 2020 to 2023.
Booker will probably also train insurance with Patriots. He began his career as a coach in Kent State, his alma mater, in 2003 before increasing the ranks and spending time at Western Kentucky, Notre Dame and Nebraska.
He has experience in training in the three phases, working on Notre Dame as an offensive intern and as coordinator of coaches/special teams. Booker also trained insurance and special equipment in Nebraska in 2017 before moving to the NFL.
Booker will work under the defensive coordinator Terrell Williams. The Patriots also hired Zak Kuhr and Clint McMillan, who worked with Vrabel, and former university trainers Kevin Richardson and Milton Patterson on the ball defensive side of the ball.
The Patriots brought back McDaniels as an offensive coordinator and hired Ashton Grant, Thomas Brown, Tony Dews, Doug Marrone and Jason Houghtaling on the offensive side of the ball.
