The former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, says he is “deeply grateful” President Donald Trump for forgiving him.
Blagojevich spent almost eight years in prison for positions of corruption, because, among other things, trying to sell or exchange the old seat in the Senate of former President Barack Obama. Five years after traveling Blagojevich’s sentence, Trump forgave him on Monday.
“I just want to say how deeply my family and I are for what President Trump did for us,” said “History.” “I have an incredibly warm affection for him. He has been nothing more than kind to me.”
Blagojevich discussed what it was like to talk to the president through a phone call about his forgiveness, before describing his relationship. The former governor appeared as a contestant at Trump’s reality show “The Celebrity Amprentice” before his conviction in 2011.

“My relationship with him has really been basically doing good things for me,” Blagojevich said. “I did not violate a law. That so -called Senate Seat was reversed by the Court of Appeals many years later, after I sat in prison for a long time … and my goal is to obtain a complete and complete claim and show how Corrupt were those prosecutors who put me in jail for eight years.“
When Fox News Anchor and executive editor of “The Story” Martha Maccallum asked the former governor if he ever negotiated or promised someone to obtain the old Senate seat of Obama, Blagojevich doubled why he feels that his alleged crime was “a great lie from the beginning. “

“No, there was none of those things that would be nefarious and criminal,” he said. “These were political conversations. Obama began them. He sent me an emissary on the night of the elections and said he wanted a Valerie Jarrett for the United States Senate, what do you want? So we discuss the political agreements. That is why The Court of Appeals finally reversed is never a crime, it was a great lie from the beginning.“
Blagojevich insisted even more on his innocence before reiterating his gratitude to President Trump.
“For 14 years, I never took a penny,” Blagojevich added. “No one said I did it. And finally, here I am today, grateful to President Trump and so excited about my new beginning.”
The former governor, who has called himself a “triumph -ocrat”, gave an ambiguous response about whether he would accept an embassy to Serbia. Trump has suggested that he would consider nominating him to be an ambassador of the United States in Serbia.

“I had the opportunity to be in Serbia last week,” said Blagojevich. “It is a country under the president (Aleksandar) Vučić who is living an economic miracle. Real wages have increased 270% for working people there. I am excited about what they are doing there. I just want to do my best I can here. And be friendly to President Trump, and do everything possible to show him my gratitude for what he has done and root it so that our country is great. “
